ENGLISH INFORMATION

About the show

Laatbloeiers (Late Bloomers) is an original theatre production and live concert in one, exploring themes of urgency, the desire to be young, falling behind, and longing.

We deliberately avoid calling the show a musical. While we have deep love for the genre, musicals often lean towards grand, highly theatrical and choreographed forms. In Laatbloeiers, we instead focus on realistic acting, interwoven with energetic live music performed in a concert-like setting.

Set in our self-built theatre at Schram Studio’s in Amsterdam Noord, the story follows Daantje, Merel and Fanne — three masters students standing on the verge of the next chapter in their lives, but each in their own way feeling like they are already falling behind the rest of the world.

Daan and Merel, in particular, come to realise that they have never truly experienced being young and carefree in the way they expected. Despite their differences, they make a pact: to make the most of their final months as students, embracing self-expression, nightlife, and intimacy.

Daan’s role model in this journey is the charismatic Fanne, for whom she secretly harbours a crush. From the outside, Fanne appears to be living the ideal student life: confident, intelligent, and always in the right place at the right time.

Join us to experience how these women step outside their comfort zones in an energetic, intimate performance filled with humour and live music. Laatbloeiers premieres in November 2026.

Practical Information

Laatbloeiers is an original theatrical production and live concert in one. The performance is entirely in Dutch, including the songs.

Whilst we warmly welcome international guests and non-fluent Dutch speakers, a basic understanding of the Dutch language is necessary in order to follow the spoken dialogue and lyrical content. Without this, much of the storytelling and nuance may be lost as there is no surtitling available for this production.

While Laatbloeiers combines music, performance, and visual storytelling to support accessibility beyond language, it is ultimately a production in which language plays an important role. We therefore recommend attending only if you feel comfortable with a basic level of Dutch, so the experience can be fully appreciated.

If you have any questions about language accessibility, please get in touch!
